Dream within a dream

 at Liminal Gallery

It's a funny old thing, not having "a place" in the art world.
I'm not graff, not a muralist and I'm not traditionally trained or educated.

In the UK I was the baby sister tag-along to Street shows and in the States I mostly slotted in with the Pop Surrealists.

Not that I mind; I'm quite happy and grateful that so many gallerists and curators have been keen to find a place for my work however, with the scenes evolving (especially in the UK) I've felt ever more like Sandra Bullock's digitised face floating off into the Big Blackness, of being One Woman, One Voice; far removed from everyone but still shouting.

All that is to say that I was really pleased to have a look at the work of the artists who I'll be joining at Liminal, because they're completely fresh and new (to me) and I'm honestly quite flattered to be asked to slot in with yet another raft of artists that my younger self would have felt too uneducated to stand alongside.

It's nice, is all. Big love to Louise Fitzjohn for finding a space for me.
The Projectionist and The Beast will both be installed in the smallest bricks-and-mortar contemporary art gallery in the UK this Saturday!

Liminal Gallery is pleased to present ‘A Dream Within A Dream’, a group exhibition showcasing the works of six contemporary artists: Zena Blackwell, Chloe Bonfield, Fernanda Cortes, Natalka Liber Stephenson, Candice Tripp, and Maud Whatley.

Taking its title from Edgar Allan Poe’s iconic poem, A Dream Within A Dream explores the boundary between reality and illusion. The artists featured in this exhibition employ diverse mediums and approaches, yet all draw upon the ephemeral and fantastical to create works that resonate with timeless narratives and otherworldly beauty.

A Dream Within A Dream evokes a shared sense of wonder, questioning the nature of perception, memory, and the stories we tell ourselves. By drawing inspiration from the past and the subconscious, these artists create a bridge between the seen and the unseen, the known and the mysterious.

“Is all that we see or seem / But a dream within a dream?”

All are welcome to join us to celebrate the opening of ‘A Dream Within A Dream’ on Saturday 1 February at Liminal Gallery’s Main Space, 5-8pm.
